It was one year ago today, that I married my darling wife Katie. What a year it has been! Here are some of the most memorable parts:
- Seeing Katie in her white dress coming down the aisle!!! (SO Beautiful!!)
- Our Wedding ceremony and reception. (Wow!! It was great! Thanks to the McClures and everyone who helped pull it off.)
- Our honeymoon trip
- Traveling for two months of partnership development
- Our home air conditioning unit completely breaking down and needing replacement in late July.
- Moving all of her stuff in (musicians have a lot of stuff. – sheet music, instruments, cases for the instruments, instrument stands….)
- Re-learning how to do a budget and use the Dave Ramsey “envelope system” together.
- Katie starting Nursing School (this is a highly competitive program at FSU!)
- Me adjusting to a new phase of campus ministry
- Katie adjusting to being the wife of a full time campus minister
- Getting the house transformed from a bachelor pad to a female-friendly environment
- Our house being burglarized during Final’s Week and having our porch finger-printed
- Me starting Seminary distance classes
- Learning how to communicate
- Learning how not to communicate
- Meeting my sister’s fiance
- Ice skating over Christmas in Erie
- Seeing snow and my family over Christmas
- Me ultimately getting Katie a dog after seeing her own “puppy dog eyes” pleading countless times
- Walks and talks at Southwood lake
- Katie playing a horrible practical joke on me for April Fool’s Day
- Missing each other terribly during several conferences I went to while she stayed
- Date nights
- Old Mexico… (need I say more.?)
- My car getting towed at FAMU (twice)
- Katie’s good cooking! …(Thanks for your influence Christi and Giada!)
- Me having to start running/exercising again regularly (a result of Katie’s good cooking)
- Turning thirty.
- Kayaking down the Wakulla River and seeing manatees, fish, birds and an alligator!
- Celebrating our one year anniversary this weekend.
I thank God for giving me such a special woman to share life with. I am truly blessed among men.
