This past week I attended the Every Nation Winter Conference in Jacksonville, FL. This was really a great time of re-connecting with old ministry friends, and of being refreshed with the vision and purpose of why God has brought us together in this movement.
The theme of the conference was “It’s a Wonderful Life”, based off of the classic Christmas movie. At the conference were many of the speakers you might expect to hear at an Every Nation Conference including David Houston, Brett Fuller, Jim Lafoon, Kevin York and Steve Murrell.
Though there were some different topics and communication approaches at this conference. However, there were some different topics addressed and several panel discussions including senior leaders of Every Nation churches.
Here are a few of my big take-aways from the the Marriage/Family Q & A Panel Discussion:
– “Discipleship in the home should happen naturally if you are transparent.”
– “Don’t speak ill of other people in your kids presence. You don’t want to poison your children to other people by your speech in your house.”
– “If you fight too hard with your wife she will begin to shut down and you won’t receive all [the counsel, advice and wisdom] you need to receive from her.”
…helpful, I think so.
I really appreciated the excellent hospitality and warm welcome extended by Pastor Russ Austin, who hosted the conference at his church, Southpoint Community Church.
In my next post I’ll highlight some of the points made during the panel discussion on ” The Measure of Success in Ministry”…
